Children's Arts Festival

The Children’s Arts Festival is an annual 10-day creative arts experience for primary school children which is run under the auspices of St Andrew’s Prep. It runs concurrently with the National Arts Festival and exists to provide pre-primary and primary school children (aged 4-13) from every segment of society with a stimulating and exciting education in the arts.

The programme is specially designed to release the artist within every child and to develop their creativity, imagination and artistic ability.

It is a fully supervised programme which includes a National Arts Festival production, up to 3 arts-related workshops and a child-friendly lunch each day.

Since its inception, 20 years ago, the festival has grown steadily every year. Now, an average of 1800 primary school pupils attends each year. It is an established feature of the National Arts Festival and is one of the cultural highlights of the year on many school calendars.

The fun and excitement for Children’s Arts Festival 2011 starts on 30 June and runs through to 9 July.
