  • Prep 125th Birthday Parade
On Friday 29th January, Prep pupils and staff took to the streets of Grahamstown in the form of a magical, colourful, musical and celebratory birthday parade. Young and old - together with their floats - departed Fairlawn field amidst hundreds of blue balloons and interested onlookers. It was with a great sense of pride when the procession turned into High Street and proceeded down  towards the Cathedral. On arrival at church square, the procession gathered for a brief ceremony.  A presentation commemorating the event was made to representatives of the Makana Municipality, whilst a collection of books and balls, symbolic of our commitment to developing a healthy mind and body, was handed to representatives of the Community Library and the Department of Sports & Recreation. • Prep 125th Cycle
On Wednesday 10th February the current Grade 7 Preppies took on a journey of mountain biking on a circular route through farmland down to the Fish River, across to the Kariega, onto Highlands and back to Grahamstown via Alicedale and Riebeeck East. They covered a distance of approximately 300km and 125 accumulated hours of cycling was accomplished – an hour for each year of Prep’s existence! This endurance-type event, superbly organized by deputy headmaster Marc Paul, has a strong link with our past as Bishop Merriman walked from Uitenhage to Grahamstown and established St Andrew’s College in 1855. More info and Day 1 – 5 Cycle photos available here

  • Prep 125th Fundraising Campaign
The Chairman of the Prep Board, Brin Brody, launched the Prep 125th anniversary fundraising campaign at a Parent/Teachers AGM meeting on 4th February. We are delighted to announce that a sum of R992,500 has already been raised from a number of Old Preppies and Parents. We do, however, have some way to go before this exciting and much-needed project becomes a reality! A capital project was identified to mark the occasion of our 125th. Our intention is to convert the existing building next to Memory Hall, in the quad area - currently housing the clothing shop, workshop and domestic quarters - into an Art & Technology Centre. Architecturally designing the Centre, as his contribution towards Prep’s 125th, is Old Preppie Patrick Levick. Artist’s impressions of the interior and interior of the Centre can be found at HERE
Join the Prep Donor Family today…  every contribution goes a long way in making the Art & Technology Centre a reality! Click here for the donation form.
