U12 Albany Cricket team:
The U12 Albany cricket team was made up of boys chosen from St Andrew's Prep ( Grant Dixie, Daniel Scholtz, Xolile Mdlokovana, Stuart Hobson and Veli Motsilili), Kingswood College (Jared Van Blerk) and Graeme College (Garvin Dumpies, Usu Nyanda, Mark Webber, Josiah Twum-Boafo and Luyolo Tshongweni).  The team played in a 3 day tournament in Uitenhage early in December and came away winning 2 out of their 3 matches.  The managers (Mr Daniel Hewson and Mr Nicholas Bingham) who accompanied the boys to the tournament were heard to comment: "These boys gelled exceptionally well as a team. They got on so well, encouraged each other, played good cricket, had great team spirit and lots of fun tool"
 

Feast:
A long standing tradition at St Andrew's Prep is to have a special send off for the Grade 7 boys called 'FEAST'. Parents and the entire senior prep school and staff community gather at this special event, culminating in a formal dinner in the beautifully decorated hall, speeches are made and the 'roof is raised' with a rousing rendition of the school song, sung by (young and old) boys.

Tennis Champs:
Congratulations to Dylan Kathoke (Junior) and Keiran Witthuhn (Senior) for winning the Tennis Championships for 2009.

HUGE Congratulations go to Fin Worrall from St Andrew's Preparatory School who came 2nd overall in the SACEE National English external examination, in which 100 schools participated nationally.
 

U12 Albany District Cricketers from St Andrew's Prep:
The following 5 boys have been chosen from St Andrew's Preparatory School for the U12 Albany District Cricket team which will play in a regional tournament in December. Xolile Mdlokovana, Stuart Hobson, Veli Motsilili, Grant Dixie and Daniel Scholtz. Well done to these young cricketers.

Marimba Band:
The Marimba Band has played at venues and functions far and wide throughout the year.
Here they are at the Garden Show at the Grahamstown Botanic Gardens with Mr Hutchinson.
   

Remembrance Day Parade
 

Grade 3 Outdoor 
The Grade 3 class spent two days at Beyond Adventure this term. This was a time of team-work, physical endurance and character building. Fun was had, a lot was learned and experiences will be remembered for years to come as this group of boys and girls go their separate ways for the next phase of their education.
    

Carnival:
St Andrew's Prep hosted it's ever popular annual carnival on Fairlawn field. Games, action, adventure sports, food, stalls and lots of entertainment were the order of the day. One boy was heard to comment ... "I wish the Carnival lasted ALL weekend, day and night". 
       

Ronwynne Barnard (Grade 4 teacher at Prep) will be leaving us to retire at the end of the year after 37 years of service!

St Andrew's Prep - Senior Eight:
In line with tradition, St Andrew's Prep School annually chooses eight or more boys at this time of year from the group of Grade 7 learners who have all had equal opportunity to lead and have had responsibilities throughout the year as part of a "senior leadership programme".  Boys and staff vote for the Grade 7 pupils who they feel encompass not only outstanding leadership qualities, but also display values such as integrity, compassion, self-respect, respect for others and who inculcate the ethos of the school. In short, true, blue Preppies.

The St Andrew's Prep Junior pupils were treated to a wonderful puppet show recently put on by the travelling puppets from "Puppet World' all the way from KZN.  The children loved taking part in the show and learning all the important messages brought to them by these fun and imaginative characters.

Sinbad at St Andrew's :
St Andrew's Junior Prep School put on a wonderful, colourful and vibrant Pantomime based on the storey of SINBAD. The many variations and twists in the tale, with of course a ‘happily ever after' ending put smiles on faces and left the appreciative audiences wishing for more when the show was over. Well done Grade 1's, 2's and 3's - Oh, what a show!
       

The DSG Junior and St Andrew's Prep orchestra and DSG Junior choir went on a short tour to Bathurst, Port Alfred and Kenton recently.  They played to appreciative audiences and schools in these areas and had lots of fun in the process.
   

GO, GO Go-cart!
The St Andrew's Prep School Grade 7 boys put a lot of energy into their annual go-cart race this year.  The boys divide themselves into groups and make these amazing 'vehicles' during their Design and Technology (D &T) classes. The finale is a 5 lap endurance and skills race, held on the Fairlawn campus and is watched by the entire school of enthusiastic supporters and staff! Go boys GO!Prizes were awarded to the fastest Team, the best dressed team and the best designed car.

OLD PREP SUPPER:
 DSG & College matrics who are about to leave school and other Old St Andrew's 'Preppies' gather for the annual 'Old Prep Supper' to say goodbye to their old Prep school, sing the much loved Prep song and participate in Monkey Dorm races, which is an Old St Andrew's Prep tradition.

SPRING CLEAN COLLECTION:
Families at St Andrew’s Prep School generously donated piles of toys, clothes, books, sports equipment and much more, for charity recently. These items were sorted and distributed to the following identified worthy organisations and groups: Hospice, Raphael Centre, Fikizolo Primary School, CSD and River Rooster (Sport outreach in Kenton) and the Settlers Hospital ARV Clinic.
   

 South African Schools' Hockey (SASHOC) South Regional Festival:
Three Grahamstown boys were part of the winning EP Mighty Elephants that participated in the under 13 South African Schools' Hockey (SASHOC) South Regional Festival held in George from 7 to 10 August 2009  which included 14 fiercely competitive teams. (From left to right) Chris McCarthy (St Andrew's Prep), Rex Blaine (St Andrew's Prep) and Marco Lombard (Kingswood) were elated with their team's top position after beating WP 2-1 in the finals. The quality of hockey at this level, camaraderie and spirit of the festival was enjoyed by all, particularly in the final match as EP supporters raised the roof!
