PICNIC AT GREY DAM: 18 JANUARY 2009:
St Andrew’s Prep School enjoys a picnic at Grey Dam each year as part of the beginning of year programme held at the school. Boys and girls walk to the dam from school, make fudge on open fires in groups, swim, have a braai and generally enjoy the day out with staff and families. A great way to start any school year!

ALBANY TEAM WINS EASTERN PROVINCE U12 Cricket Tournament
Grahamstown U12 boys did us proud at the Eastern Province Cricket tournament held in Uitenhage during December. The team was selected from St Andrew’s Prep, Grahamstown Primary, Kingswood Junior and Graeme College. They played against 3 PE sides, Uitenhage, Karoo, Kouga and Winterberg teams and won the tournament overall!

THE RIVER MILE 25 JANUARY 2009:
Preppies enjoyed swimming the traditional river (half) mile in the Cowie River on Sunday 25th January, all earning house points for their respective houses.The first 5 boys home were:
Ralph Goveia (time:12,51), Steven Briscoe, Darryl Higgins, Angus Charter and James Mills
ST ANDREW’S PREP TURNS 124!
The staff and pupils at St Andrew’s Prep School celebrated the schools 124th Birthday with an annual party down on Fairlawn Field. This year’s theme was ‘Hats’. Hats big, small, outrageous and original and of all descriptions were worn to school on the day! The children enjoyed dog nuts and juice while a giant Birthday cake was donated to the folk at Brookshaw Homes to enjoy later.

GRADE 7 OUTDOOT ED TRIP, JANUARY 2009:
The Grade 7 class enjoyed an Outdoor Education trip to Hobbiton in the Hogsback as part of the beginning of year activities.
This was a great way for all the new boys to feel part of the group. The essential team work and team building exercises and a great deal of fun, made sure that the large group of boys and their teachers came back to school ready for the year ahead.

PROFESSIONAL CRICKET COACHING:
Carl Bradfield, Cricket Director at St Andrew's College, coaches Rex Blaine a U13A player, during special cricket coaching sessions set up for Prep players.
Prep boys collected and donated a large amount of cricket kit to donate to their fellow pupils from Grahamstown Primary.
The boys traditionally enjoy fixtures against one another each season. Seen here U13 teams from Prep, with headmaster Graham Gooden (right) and GTH Primary boys with their headmaster Leon Coetzee (left) at the hand over of the kit minutes before a match go underway on Fairlawn field between the 2 schools. A great game of cricket was enjoyed by all.
St Andrew's Prep celebrated Valentines Day in style on Friday the 13th Feb.
All the children and Staff came to school dressed in Red, White and Pink, what fun was had and what a lovely sight it was!

Lloyd Bristow Specialist Dog Trainer and Entertainer came to St Andrew's Prep
to teach and entertain the children on the ins and outs of dog handling, care and training. 17 March 2009
SWIMMING STARS:
The annual Independent Junior Schools gala was held in Grahamstown this year, hosted by Kingswood College and held at the DSG indoor aquatic centre. DSG, St Andrew's Prep, Kingswood, St George's Prep and Woodridge traditionally participate in this event. St Andrew's Prep pupils did exceptionally well this year breaking no less than 4 records. Special mention should be made of Ralph Goveia who broke the U14 backstroke record and was a member of the 2 relay teams which broke the backstroke and free style records this year.Well done boys!
