Pre Primary

St Andrew's Pre-Primary - Boys and Girls; 3 ½ to 6 year old\\\

Free to be me

Nestled safely between age-old trees in a quiet part of Grahamstown, is a place particularly geared for the growth of little people: St Andrew’s Pre-Primary.

Set away from busy roads, the campus is a secure haven where boys and girls from age 3 can explore the creatively designed playground or find a  corner to spend time with a special friend – all under unobtrusive supervision. The bright and airy classrooms – a treasure trove of games, books and toys – are organised with the value of play in mind, because with play comes the opportunity to discover, learn and grow. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning through the process of “plan, do, review”. The learning programme is designed to foster creative expression and build self esteem. Free play is balanced with periods of teacher-directed activities in small groups with well qualified staff supporting and extending each child.

Music classes, Kindermusik and the computer labs are a hop and a skip away in the adjacent Junior Primary. Pupils are provided with experiences that encourage and support learning which include outings, interesting visitors and neighbourhood picnics and rambles.

The learning environment is designed to enable children to solve their problems creatively and make their own decisions socially and practically. Our aim is to promote caring, confident and innovative individuals.

The proximity of  St Andrew’s Junior Preparatory makes the move to “big school” a natural\\\ and eagerly awaited progression.

Afternoon care is available.
